I am a graduate of Argosy University and earned my Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am very excited and dedicated to my therapy career and I love helping others find their true selves through the process of healing. I believe in connecting to our emotions and experiences to better understand ourselves and to essentially grow personally and relationally. I also have a passion for helping people understand their trauma and learn how to heal from it. Finally, I look forward to collaborating with my clients to help them develop new skills and learn how to develop resiliency in the face of life's struggles.

As a child and family therapist, I focus my services on working with adolescents, adults, and families. It's my goal to help you achieve healing and strength through emotional support, unconditional regard, and specialized techniques. I am a proactive and hands-on therapist. My first and most important priority is to make you feel safe and understood in my office. I work with a solution focused framework, which means that we will set goals and work hard to achieve them in a reasonable amount of time.

My therapy is focused on the brain and how our brains can be healed and our lives can be changed forever. I specialize in difficulties in relationships and struggles with mental health disorders. I typically see individuals struggling with relationships, medications, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, self-esteem, trauma recovery, family problems, military (tricare) and pre/post mission preparation. I am close to BYU and UVU and I see students who suffer from ADHD, depression and anxiety.

It is so hard to watch someone you care about suffering. You want to get them back to feeling like themselves again. Your child, teen, or young adult will receive expert guidance and support as they face the challenges of trauma, depression, and anxiety. This hard time they are going through right now will not define them.

Each client who enters my office desires deeper personal connections, less stress and more hope. Play therapy helps that healing process.

I love working with all ages, ethnicities, cultures, and diversity. I have focused primarily work with teens and youth, but enjoy everyone. Therapy is a space for individuals to find their own story, the hidden pieces of themselves, and develop understanding. As long as clients come with the intention of healing, growth, and understanding, I'd love to be one to help.

One of the most challenging and stressful things we face in life are the emotional and behavioral problems of our children. We may begin to wonder if there is “hope” for improvement or even may feel like “what’s wrong with us.” In the effort to find relief or comfort, we may find ourselves drawn to self-defeating and even destructive behaviors that offer immediate yet temporary relief. There are other options. I offer just this to my clients.

Philosophy of Care: I approach the therapeutic relationship as an essential part of the healing process. Life can present us with many challenges. Many of us pass through experiences that can impact our emotional stability and create struggles to connect with ourselves and with others. I work within the context of the therapeutic setting with a comprehensive approach. I utilize many of the theoretical orientations that I have learned through my years of being a healing practitioner. As a therapist, I strive to assist my clients in increasing their overall quality of life.

I have worked in mental health since 2006. I have worked in several different settings and with several different populations. I enjoy working with kids, teens, adults, families, and elderly. I enjoy helping clients work through their struggles, through teaching coping skills, mindfulness, reducing symptoms, and improving overall functioning. I work hard at helping normalize issues and helping others to know that they do not have to face their battles alone.

I am a licensed clinical child psychologist specializing in utilizing state of the art assessment and therapy techniques to detect and treat learning disabilities, ADHD, and other emotional/personality issues which may hinder a child's learning experience. In addition, our clinic performs infant developmental testing and kindergarten readiness evaluations. Birgitta Cuneo Hellberg is a License Clinical Social Worker of 13 years of experience. She provides compassionate, patient-centered care for children, teens and families who are struggling with mental health issues. She holds specialized training in evidenced-based play therapy, trauma-informed therapy, DBT, EMDR, TFCBT, parent-child attachment, CBT and Child-centered approaches.
