My "ideal client" is one who perceives me as his/her ideal therapist. If I am best fit for this client, then I am most useful to this client, and I serve my purpose and this is my ideal client. Together he or she and I would find solutions to the problems. Mental health is not an exact science. Psychotherapy or counseling is an art and science. I believe an effective clinician uses experiential and experimental data. The symptoms, or issues, build up diagnoses whereby we generate treatment options. A clinician tries whatever treatment options within ethical bounds to reach the client/s wellness goals.

Therapy is a spiritual journey to me. I see my role as the therapist to be the mirror to the client, reflecting back to them what I hear them saying about their own knowing, essence, passion, pain, and potential. It is my role as the therapist to sit with the client in the midst of his/her journey and allow him/her the opportunity to get to know and see him/herself, which ultimately leads to a process of loving his/herself. This is part of the soul journey: learning to love ourselves which indeed is a rewarding experience.

I have coached clients in personal growth, self esteem, assertiveness and divorce/blended families.I enjoy coaching divorced families toward healthy bonding and blending. I am Sam Amick, a Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner and Certified Master Social Worker. I received my Bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of Nebraska - Kearney in 2018 followed by my Master’s in Social Work through the University of Nebraska - Omaha in 2021. With 5 years of working in the local school system and a year of teletherapy, I have experience in helping children, adults, and families overcome a variety of life’s challenges.
