I have 25+ years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. I have worked with individuals as well as families and couples. The experience I have is multi-faceted. I have direct, clinical experience working in the areas of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, substance abuse, Dementia, adoption and family systems. I have worked in an educational, community, and a psychiatric hospital setting.

I have over 30 years of experience working with individuals, couples and families from diverse backgrounds and a range of presenting issues. I have been successful in treating adolescents and adults for depression, anxiety, stress management, marital and relationship difficulties, anger management, and Attention Deficit Disorder. My philosophy is that people are often resistant to change as the change is unknown. I help them explore what that change would look and feel like and how it could improve their lives if they do decide to make those changes.

I am an experienced, compassionate, licensed marriage and family therapist in the community who has effectively supported and treated many individuals, couples, and families through major and minor life transitions over the years. Hi and welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and for the past 20 years have been helping people within a variety of different settings. Over the years in my work with children, couples, families, as well as those struggling with substance use and other difficulties, I think about rocks. Specifically, rocks that weigh us down emotionally, due to difficult childhood experiences, troubling relationships, and from events or challenges one faces in their lives. Many clients come into counseling with the belief that they are inherently flawed. Inevitably, during our work together we uncover some of the rocks that weigh them down emotionally. The resulting awareness can be quite effective in relieving or reducing one from those old self-defeating messages.

I’m Maggie Panageas, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience providing therapy to teens and adults. I specialize helping people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, gender identity, and feelings of loneliness. Sometimes life circumstances, such as a difficult childhood, divorced parents, social isolation, or trauma can leave us feeling alone and without hope. I am a Spiritual Director, focusing on contemplative practices to help my clients get in touch with their own sense of divinity. We listen together to how the Spirit is working in your life. Sometimes life gets complicated. Confronting and discussing your feelings requires strength. In my experience, things that are never discussed are never resolved. Things happen to us throughout our lifetime that make us feel stuck, worthless, guilty, shamed, and like we are never enough. These ideas about ourselves dictate the way we learn, how we do in school and work, and how we love and connect to others. When someone has experienced trauma, these thoughts and feelings can be even more extreme which can cause significant distress. Growth and Empowerment is accepting new clients!
