Our life experiences shape who we are and sometimes those experiences can be painful. The thoughts and feelings we have about those experiences shape our beliefs. My job as a therapist is to partner with you to discover how your thoughts and feelings shape your behavior. I believe that all behavior serves as a function for us and when we understand the function we can change our negative behaviors to positive behaviors. **I also offer Mediation for contested and uncontested cases; specializing in the area of children agreements. Mediation is a much more cost effective way to reach agreements in the Divorce process.

I provide psychotherapy to individuals that focuses on recovery & healing from past and present traumas as well as work around self-discovery, identity, and positive growth. I see my job as providing support, validation, & relational safety. Dr. Venus Evans-Winters is a licensed clinical social worker, trauma professional, and professor. She draws upon multiple therapeutic and psychoeducational techniques (e.g. cognitive, dialectical, and reality therapies) to meet clients' mental health and socio-emotional needs. A native of Chicago and representative of the hip hop generation, she helps culturally and linguistically diverse clients cope with chronic stress and trauma. Her practice is influenced by Adlerian theory and centers culturally responsive approaches to practice because we know that culture is a major influence on one's perception of stress and self-efficacy.

I enjoy helping individual adults, couples, and families recognize and overcome any problematic cognitive or behavioral patterns that play a role in holding them back from living their best lives. Sometimes these problematic patterns center around how we think about things like our own worthiness, the trustworthiness of others, and what a successful parent/partner/worker "looks" like. I am an accomplished professional with 15+ years of experience serving a diverse range of clients through several local community agencies and clinical mental health providers. I am experienced with a wide variety of clinical diagnoses and have worked with all ages across the lifespan.
