I am a nationally certified counselor passionate about helping couples, families, and individuals heal and develop skills to cultivate growth in body, mind, and spirit. It is my desire to identify and apply the best suited evidence-based therapeutic practices to help clients move beyond what they are dealing with, to realize their full potential and inner strength. It is my belief each therapeutic session represents steps in a journey both the client and I are on in an effort to obtain self-care and well-being. My ultimate goal in this journey is to assist clients to overcome by building hope, recovery, and resilience.

I see counseling as a process in which the client and the counselor work together in achieving a safe environment of understanding, mutual respect, and trust. We work as a team to explore and define present problem situations, develop future goals for an improved life, and work in a systematic fashion toward realizing those goals. I work with clients in a variety of formats including individual, couples, family, and group therapy. Life provides experiences that can be challenging and difficult to overcome. Sometimes these difficulties present in feelings of sadness, grief, worry, or relationship problems. Despite the problem there is hope to be able understand how these experiences can shape us to be stronger and better ready to handle life, so that we can live it to our fullest potential.

My typical theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but I also believe that it is necessary, at times, to draw from other orientations and therapies in order to provide the best care possible for my clients.

My practice specializes in marriage counseling and couple therapy. I also work with individuals on a wide-range of mental health, career transition, substance use, and life transition issues. I have worked with more than 2,800 couples in my career, addressing relationship concerns and finding solutions to chronic dissatisfaction, infidelity, poor communication, intimacy problems, and family conflict. For persons who are uncertain about remaining in their marriage, "discernment counseling" is available to help an ambivalent spouse gain clarity about their relationship commitment and options for bringing about needed change.
