I have a passion for working with individuals who have experienced trauma and help promote healing and wellness from a holistic perspective. I have over 3 years of experience working with children in the foster care/adoption system and their foster/adoptive families. I offer various interventions that are best for you along both traditional and nontraditional therapy settings (i.e. walk-and-talk therapy and play therapy). I look forward to supporting you in becoming the best version of yourself you can be!

Ready for things to change? Tired of feeling stuck in cycles in your relationship, your moods, your behaviours? Have there been events in your past you'd rather not have replay in your head over and over again? A sense of security, meaning and control is probably what you're looking for. In therapy you (and your partner and/or family members) will learn how to use many methods (including self-hypnosis) to speed up the process of gaining new insights and to reinforce your resolve to enact change in your life, as you choose. You remain entirely in control of your experiences.

Many days, pressure from others’ expectations can be mentally, physically & emotionally draining. It seems you are never good enough, always pushing toward perfection. Working hard, putting time in day and night, struggling to perform at work, school, home, with sports, family and peers. This can lead to overwhelming amounts of stress, fear, sadness, conflict, and irritability, impacting choices made. You want to feel valued and accepted, and are told to be mentally tough and stay strong. On the inside you are nervous, and fear failure. Outside pressure can be overwhelming, bringing feelings of self doubt, and fear.

“It it not the water around the ship that sinks the ship, it is the water inside the ship that sinks the ship.” Using this metaphor, I effectively help my clients figure out what exactly is “sinking their ship” and provide techniques and strategies to right their ship and put it in seaworthy condition. Specifically, I help my clients manage anxiety and depression, relationship issues, alcohol abuse, lack of self-confidence and self-esteem, and life adjustments.

You are exhausted. You have tried so hard to follow all the rules, and it just keeps getting harder. No matter how hard you are on yourself, you can’t seem to rise to your potential. What would it be like to look into the mirror and recognize yourself again? To be free to make mistakes without dwelling on them or allowing them to define you? To enjoy life again?

Each person has his or her own unique story, and this requires the therapist to place himself or herself aside and create a safe space for the client to explore and heal. As I work towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist, I enjoy working with a wide range of clientele including children, families, couples, and individuals. It would be a privilege to come along side you and talk with you about your journey in a judgment-free space where you feel both comfortable and safe.

In the counseling process, I use relationship building to develop the foundation from which to address needs. Drawing from personal experience and education, I work hard to support people as they move from where they are to where they want to be. Motivated by my deep faith, I feel that all people matter and that change is always possible.

You are struggling and you aren’t sure how to stop it. To everyone else you look happy and seem to be thriving, but it doesn't feel true. When you aren’t with others, you are down on yourself, worrying, avoiding situations and moody. There may be a clear cause from a difficult situation, or it may be you are struggling with all that life is demanding right now. No matter what the cause I have worked with people just like your and seen them move from struggling to become the thriving individual you know is inside. I have minimal availability at this time.

Being able to help others has always been a passion of mine. My educational and professional experience has allowed me to create a broad variety of specialties. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Central Florida in 2004. During my stay, I was able to work with specialty organizations that focused on equality and activism for groups such as LGBTQ+, military support, and women's rights. The following year, I was able to dive deeper into the complexities of systems theory while at Nova Southeastern University.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
