The specialty areas addressed are trauma-focused, post-traumatic stress disorder, stress management, adjustment disorders, anxiety, family and relational issues, and much more.
I have a heart to see individuals find wholeness and healing from past trauma and life experiences. As a clinician, it is important to create a brave space, meeting them where they are, and using a relational approach with all my clients. It is imperative to help my clients understand why they do what they do and identify those negative mindsets that came from life experiences that have caused them to remain stuck. Then, providing them with the tools to help them discover their truth, healing from their past wounds, walking in their freedom, so they can begin to rewrite their story.

I furthered my education at Liberty University where I successfully obtained my Master of Arts degree with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy.
I believe everyone has a story that stitches them together to make them who they become. The journey to complete wholeness of that story sometimes requires assistance, and I believe that’s where I come in.

I offer discounted rates for veterans and their family members because I want to help support military service members and their families through seasons of transition.
Life coaching is not psychotherapy, nor is it a substitute for psychotherapy. As a coach, I enjoy working with clients who have vision and are looking for someone to help them set attainable goals. I believe that it is important to celebrate the steps you conquer along the way! I have developed skills which are supportive and encouraging for leaders, business owners, and individuals. My goal is to work with people who feel stuck and want to follow their calling. I want to support them in navigating their journey to accomplish their goals! Your dreams do not have to stay tucked away as wishes- they can become a reality!

Some need help enforcing boundaries with family or in laws.
At Lake Mary Counseling we help improve your relationship to where your feelings and needs are heard. Some can get stuck dismissing their partner without realizing that for women being heard is a need as we are circular thinkers and come to you our best friend to be heard and comforted. I compare sexual intimacy to quality conversations for women. At times running a business and taking care of children has become stressful and date nights are not happening as often as needed. We will work on healing, heard and reconnecting.

Change is inevitable; no one stays the same in their life journey. I am passionate about helping others walk through the mountains and valleys in life growing stronger by building their inner strength. Each one of us has wounds and scars but they do not have to define who we are. I love working with individuals, couples, and families to draw on the positive qualities of each member in the family system in order to guide the family toward a more mentally healthier life. Connection is the secret ingredient to your overall well being. When we honor our pain by sharing it, we can heal it. Remaining silent can give power to the pain.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
