My desire is to support you and your family through the challenges of life. I have over 20 years of experience working with school aged children/teens and parents. My preferred counseling theory is Cognitive Behavioral Theory, but I am familiar with a wide variety of other counseling theories (EMDR, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Systems) that may work better for you and your family. I completed both a M.S. degree in Psychology from Utah State University in 2005 and a M.A. degree in Counseling from Ottawa University in 2016. Currently I am licensed as a Mental Health Counselor.

I believe you are the expert in your life and my job as a counselor is to provide you the space to explore who you are, how you feel, and what you think to help identify actionable steps to get you to where you want to be. My hope is to create a safe space where you feel comfortable having difficult conversations, confronting hard experiences, and celebrating life’s accomplishments.

First off I want to say I'm glad that you're here. It can be difficult looking into therapy but the fact that you're now reading this says two different things about you. She employs interpersonal outcome-oriented strategic therapy to facilitate relational change and personal growth. Her practice is private, and oriented to a clientele typically reluctant to seek psychological help. Concentrating on relatively capable individuals, couples, and family members, Dr. Rhode works with transitions, midlife choices, entitlement vocational re-direction, unexpected trauma, and unprocessed grief. I work from an existential-humanistic orientation, which is just a fancy way of saying that I believe every person is unique, valuable, and has purpose. For many people, discovering that purpose is the difference between a satisfying life and an empty one. For others, fulfilling their purpose gets messy and hard. In both cases (and many others) it can be helpful to talk it all through with a trusted therapist.

I embrace the theory that people are not defined by their problems, but their problems are external of them. Through this strength-based approach, I believe a person can be empowered to take control of their life.
