I am passionate when it comes to therapy! Having the opportunity to help people find positive growth in their lives is so rewarding to me! I've spent 30 years working with adolescents in a variety of roles and settings. In recent years, I have had the opportunity to integrate family therapy, parent coaching, and kink informed therapy into my practice. It is so fulfilling to help my clients work through conflicts, become more resilient, and enhance their overall strength and unification. I have also enjoy doing insight based work with adults who are experiencing conflicts or transitions in their lives.

I am trained in Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Brief Strategic Family Therapy.
I help people in the midst or aftermath of life’s upheavals, when the ways they coped with stress are no longer sufficient. People I help are seeking support with: difficult feelings and situations such as relationship strain, divorce, retirement, empty nest, illness, death and loss. Learning or practicing new skills or strategies to get through a challenging time. Conflict and self-criticism. Anxiety, depression and trauma. Inner conflict related to sexual orientation or gender identity, or that of a loved one. A roller coaster of emotions, such as anger, rage, and blame. Developing healthier ways of coping.

I wanted to get into the mental health field from a young age, as I was always surrounded by friends and family who struggled with mental health.
I am a Licensed Social Worker with a passion for decreasing the stigma surrounding mental health and promoting the health and well being of my clients. For my undergraduate degree, I moved from Central Jersey (Yes! It exists!) to South Jersey to attend Stockton University. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work with a Minor in Behavioral Neuroscience from Stockton, and then moved on to attend graduate school in Philadelphia. I received my Master of Social Work Degree with a clinical concentration from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice in May of 2020.

I practice the Bowenian family systems model and Motivational Interviewing.
Allow me to embark on this journey to help you heal from the inside out. Together we can get to the root of trauma and addiction, so that you can transcend your experiences and grow in the direction of your goals. Painful childhood memories, trans-generational abuse and dysfunction impact our emotions, behaviors and physiology. We must heal these wounds or we end up reenacting them in our individual, family and community relationships. I am grateful for the opportunity to hold space for you to do your work in a safe, nonjudgmental environment.

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stressed, and uncertain? Is life a balancing act in which you’re trying to effectively manage your career, social life, family, or dating, constantly shifting yet never feeling steady? Does it feel like you’re working harder than ever at managing your relationships but somehow still coming up short? I get it. Life can be extremely challenging, but it shouldn’t feel like you’ll break down at any moment. That isn’t sustainable!

Utilizing a strength-based focus, I integrate techniques from various theories and modalities such as: cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, internal family systems, mindfulness, attachment and narrative therapy.
Finding a good therapist is like shopping for a good pair of shoes. Why, you might ask. It’s all about the fit. You usually choose shoes that are most comfortable and suit you best. Whether you may have gone to a therapist before or have never been – whether you had awful experiences in the past or none at all. Successful therapy is about finding the right fit; about finding a relationship where you have a safe space to bring any and all of your feelings and challenges.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
