I offer a sacred talk space for you to explore your energy-sensitivity, and EMDR to help you heal through trauma and distressing situations faster, so you can show up as your authentic self in life.
Growing up, you felt different from others. Loved ones praised your high achievements in school, but called you socially awkward or too sensitive. Friends leaned on you as the dependable one, and thought you “always had it together,” but on the inside you felt anxious and as if no one really understood the real you. Even today, life can feel overstimulating, and you have a hard time recharging or setting social boundaries. You’re ready to stop “blending in,” and honor your sensory needs. You’re searching for someone who understands your fear of vulnerability, and could help you understand and embrace your authentic self.

I specialize in EMDR and DBT therapy, and am passionate about helping people embrace their authentic selves.
It's hard to find someone who understands. It's hard showing people the real you. You're tired of being strong, but you've never been given any other choice. You're tired of wearing a mask, but you're afraid of what you'd find if you took the mask off. Perhaps you compare yourself to others and feel like you're supposed to be better or do better than you're doing. You're tired of feeling like you don't fit in, and you're sure that the only people in your life are only there because they don't know the real you. If any of these statements resonate with you, you've come to the right place.

As an EMDR certified clinician, I am intentionally and culturally sensitive to areas of grief and trauma, and the body's response to those experiences.
Are you overwhelmed with the pressure of being all the things, to all the people? Are you the strong one for everyone else, even though it feels like you're barely hanging on? Is your answer always "yes" even when your heart, body, and soul are saying "no"? Do you struggle to reconcile your faith with your mental health challenges? Do you crave a safe place that you can simply take the cape off and breathe? Does representation matter? If so, I've got you.

I am trained in both CPT and EMDR, but I also tend to take a more eclectic treatment approach by integrating aspects of multiple modalities.
We all experience really tough and painful things at times. Then, sometimes, we don't know why things feel so difficult but all of the sudden, even the little things feel like too much to bear. We may know that something in our lives needs to change but we either don’t know what it is or we just don’t know where to start to make it happen. The therapeutic environment is designed to be an unbiased and safe space where you can be authentically you and receive the support you need in order to facilitate healing and change.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
