Life can be challenging. My goal as a therapist is to meet my clients where they are and provide a safe space to navigate through their issues together. I specialize in treating substance use and abuse, which in turn leads to the treatment of underlying issues such as trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and low-self esteem. By utilizing an individualistic, strength based approach, I help my clients to find positive ways to cope with the challenges of everyday life in ways that work for them. I am empathetic and kind. Many clients are surprised to discover this. Because I have spent pro bono time evaluating asylum seekers, I have learned a great deal about the varieties of how trauma haunts. I also have come to respect how strengths and capacities nevertheless endure. This is what I bring to my work---to help sort it all out so that pain is diminished and individuality flourishes.

I have experience working with teens, preteens, and adults facing a variety of challenges, including anxiety, problems at school, behavior problems, relationship issues, friendship struggles, and substance abuse. I have specialty training in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder using Exposure-Response Prevention (ERP). I am passionate about the benefits of ERP and how well it can help people overcome anxiety. I believe in the value of psychotherapy and understand that everyone is different. I tailor each therapy session to each individual client's needs.

Through therapy, I help children understand their big emotions and how to navigate through emotional reactions in more helpful, positive ways. I enjoy working with children and teens on finding the best coping tools to make the challenges of growing up feel a bit more manageable. I also help guide teens through their challenging teenage years that may be further impacted by mental health struggles, such as anxiety and depression. Addressing emotional/relational wounding truly opens the door to a more empowered and fulfilling life. You can increase your self-esteem and confidence, free yourself from depression/anxiety, negative self-talk, substance or process addictions, trauma triggers, and emotional reactivity in relationships. I have years of experience working with addictions, depression, and teen issues. I am passionate about recovery and helping those in need find their own recovery. I work to help individuals let go of the old messages that are mean and belittling to themselves, and help replace them with compassion and kindness. Because, it's when we feel good about ourselves that we are able to treat ourselves well. Battling mental health issues is hard and having someone you feel safe with to explore the deep, dark parts of your soul is where the healing begins.
