I also incorporate other interventions to help you work through Trauma, grief and loss.
We are made to be in a relationship with one another, however, there are times when those relationships can become fractured or go off course. Likewise, as individuals, we can also become fractured within and become off-course with ourselves. My passion is to work along side you to create meaningful and positive experiences leading to lasting and effective change.

As an EMDR Certified Therapist with an international experience, I specialize in supporting adults heal from trauma (PTSD), anxiety, and depression.
Depression, anxiety, and other symptoms don't have to last forever. You deserve to feel better. Can you imagine being able to shush that Inner Critic, meet your Inner Child and their old needs, and come into a deeper understanding of your authentic Self? It takes tremendous courage to confront childhood trauma and heal those invisible wounds. Modern psychotherapy includes evidence-based protocols where traumatic memories become less vivid and emotions less intense and unpleasant. Step by step, you can unlearn the patterns that are no longer serving you and reveal your innate worth. This time, you get to choose the direction!

Life’s journey includes many difficulties, including challenges for individuals, couples, and families. Therapy provides a confidential and safe space where feelings can be explored, new skills can be acquired, and healing can begin. Seeking guidance is an important first step. I have experience working survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and other trauma. Trauma often surfaces in ways we may not realize as we do not always know how to articulate and process our emotions. I take a collaborative approach with my clients to identify problem areas, goals, and learn to identify and express their feelings.

I am EMDR trained and specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use disorders, self-esteem and mood disorders.
When I was a junior in high school, I began to struggle with severe anxiety and panic attacks. Even with a great support system, trying to “take a deep breathe” when panicking was just not cutting it. I needed to go deeper than that. It wasn’t until I found a counselor that allowed me to feel comfortable sharing my insecurities and fears, that I learned to take control of my worries. I instantly felt more at ease when I knew I was going to see my counselor. That is when I realized: I want to be that sense of warmth and guidance for others.

In a world where anxiety, depression, PTSD, and challenges to self-esteem and relationships are increasingly common, the quest for genuine connection and understanding can seem daunting, especially for those of us in the queer community. If you're navigating relationship difficulties, societal injustices - such as transphobia, homophobia, racism, discrimination, and inequity, or the impact of violence and chronic trauma, know that your feelings are valid and you're not alone. The need for safer spaces where we can be our most authentic selves and where our identities are affirmed and celebrated is more crucial than ever.

I recognize my client's right to self-determination, and I want to empower my clients to collaboratively come up with their obtainable short-term and long-term plans and goals. Let's further explore together how to make better use of the tools we've been working with and perhaps add new additional tools to the toolbox or not.

In life we all experience stressors, hardships, and sometimes trauma. These experiences shape our perception and the lens in which we see the world and ourselves. Using an integrative approach of cognitive-behavioral, rational emotive behavior, and dialectical-behavioral therapies, I assist my clients to become whole and healed by learning a new way of responding. In addition, using comprehensive psychological evaluations, I decipher difficult and-or multiple diagnoses, assess an individual's emotional and cognitive functioning, and innate abilities for a variety of purposes including forensic evaluations and expert testimony.

Our current Covid-19 climate of living, can be highly stressful and anxiety provoking for many people. Are you feeling anxious? Down? Stuck? Frustrated? Not sure what it is but cannot put your finger on it? Perhaps you have experienced a crisis and feel like you are spinning out of control. Or maybe life somehow now feels unmanageable. These feelings can cause an increase in limiting beliefs and negative self-talk, which can also affect your personal and professional relationships. This is not at all unusual, and IS very recoverable. It is my pleasure to help you make sense of it, regain your footing, and help you get back on track.

My expertise lies in assisting individuals who grapple with worries, overthinking, the pressure to overachieve, perfectionism, and those who have experienced trauma.
You're known as the person who appears to have everything under control, yet deep inside, you're grappling with a constant sense of overwhelm. You consistently surpass expectations, all the while battling the nagging doubt of your own worthiness. Behind a smile and the words "I'm fine," you conceal the true turmoil within, never wanting to burden others with your inner struggles. You have a knack for self-blame that rivals the best, forever ruminating on how you could have been better. Throughout the day, you might find yourself letting out frequent sighs, and your body remains in a constantly tense state.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
