I use attachment and systems theory to help clients understand the impact of life experiences and family-of-origin, with the goals of healing trauma and living their best, SoPerfect Life!.
I am currently taking new telehealth clients for sex therapy, couples therapy and trauma therapy. My ideal client wants to heal. With all the trauma from the past few years, self-work has never been more necessary and normalized. Coming out of a global pandemic, with relationships and sex lives suffering, we all need to be intentional about rebuilding emotional, mental and sexual health. Whether you’re trying to heal from trauma, improve communication and intimacy in your relationship(s), explore polyamory or consensual non monogamy, or explore sexual and/or gender identity, I believe I can help you to achieve your personal goals.

EMDR is my main treatment method, but I also use principles of neurobiology and Internal Family Systems.
I work with clients who may be finding themselves struggling with the impacts of trauma and noticing they're repeating patterns in their intimate relationships that they want to be different. They are open to exploring the complexities of their upbringing and learning how these early templates are showing up in their lives now. They are curious - and perhaps frustrated by - what is motivating their thoughts, emotions and behaviors, and are looking for deep, lasting change.

It It is my mission to team up with children, teens and adults to improve confidence, positivity and emotional regulation. Life can be hard- and our emotions, internal dialogue, high expectations and “needing to have it all together” can make navigating life even harder. You used to know how to manage it well enough, but lately it’s began to feel impossible to keep up with all the areas of your life that need attention, the endless responsibilities, and the pressures to do it all well. Emotions feel overwhelming, negative thoughts and self-doubt are growing, it's hard to stay present and connected, and your relationships are taking a hit. You're ready to find mental and emotional relief, more balance, and prioritize what really matters to you.

As a licensed marriage and family therapist I have particular experience and training in understanding individuals in the context of their relationships, families, and social identities. Sometimes our distress isn't just about what we're doing or not doing. Oftentimes, it's about how we move through the world in our social identities and how the world perceives and interacts with us so I want you to be able to talk about that in therapy. I work with families and couples; However, It is not uncommon for me to work with individuals. Even when I am working with an individual, I understand that individual in context.

When did things go so wrong? Every recent interaction with your husband seems to end in conflict. You used to be so in sync and open about your thoughts and feelings with one another. But now, it’s like you’re speaking two different languages. It’s so frustrating and lonely to live this way. You wish you could somehow pause the day and take a bit of time for yourself and your relationship. But it’s impossible. Between work, kids, and the endless responsibilities of adulthood, there’s no time to fix anything. So you continue on like this. Smiling through the pain, slowly drifting further apart but unable to do anything about it.

I have extensive experience and training in supporting individuals through anxiety, depression, issues with mood, shame, and doubt, and general adjustment challenges in these changing times. I strongly believe that our bodies and minds hold onto past experiences and that these experiences tend to shape us in many ways that can influence the relationship that we have with ourselves and others. I believe that healing is collaborative work. Together we will work on making decisions and generally living with a better sense of purpose and direction.

Men’s issues, life transitions, sexual identity / orientation, & immigration / cultural trauma are often difficult to explore with those unfamiliar with your lived experience and feelings of confusion, depression and anxiety are normal responses. However, you do not have to deal with them alone. Do you ever feel unappreciated, like no matter what you do you are never enough? Do you feel like life isn't going how it "should be" or “as planned”? I specialize in working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, people struggling with immigration and racial trauma, & those going through difficult transitions in life.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
