Life can be difficult and a challenge to navigate at times, but I believe we all have the strength, courage, and resilience to grow, heal, and live a fulfilling life. Therapy can feel like an intimidating first step, but my goal is to meet every client that comes in with warmth and an understanding that I will meet you wherever you are and work together to reach your goals. I feel fortunate to have lived in a few different states and countries in my life, and I feel that my experiences with other people and cultures have given me unique insights into my life and into my practice as a therapist. I am trained in and focused on EMDR

Trauma is a normal life experience often associated with major life transitions: death, divorce, retirement, blending families.
Connection is the most basic human need. Our survival is dependent on whether or not we have someone we can turn to when we are most vulnerable. We experience disconnection as: death, divorce, conflict, betrayal, loneliness. I can guide you on your journey of securing satisfying and nurturing relationships or strengthening and rebuilding existing relationships . I have experience working with sexual & intimacy issues, sex addiction, pornography and affair recovery. I can help you repair and reconnect with whomever matters the most in your life or find and create new lasting, healthy relationships. I help individuals and couples find greater happiness improve their lives.

I pride myself in my ability to develop positive relationships with my clients. I am really good at asking thought provoking and mind-challenging questions to help my clients see things in ways they may not have previously thought about. I believe homework assignments are the key to helping clients enact positive change at home, outside of the therapy room.

In today’s hard driving culture, many people are working hard and enjoying prosperity. While this is good, a wide body of research shows a high number of Americans report feeling very lonely and isolated. What are we missing? Connection. We humans are wired for close and intimate connection. When we don’t have it in our most significant relationships, especially in marriage, it is hard to find joy in anything else. What gets in the way of achieving this connection? Negative cycles and unprocessed trauma. Negative cycles take over our important relationships and unprocessed trauma can make close connection feel threatening.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
