“I work with individuals, couples/co-parents, and families. I see children in play therapy from three years old and up as well as adolescents. I work with many families going through the difficult family transition of separation/divorce/remarriage/grief. I enjoy working with couples and utilizing the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to remind couples to acknowledge, appreciate and respect their differences. I found the MBTI to be especially beneficial to couples considering marriage or long-term commitments.

“Designed for struggling adolescents ages 10 to 17, Trails Carolina is a comprehensive therapeutic wilderness program set amid the tranquil North Carolina Mountains. Developed specifically to address the ";whole child, our proven methods and clinical therapies help change troubling behavior, guide adolescents up new paths of self-awareness, lead families toward reunification and healing, and re-engage students in an appreciation of academic challenge and learning. Adolescents today are continually exposed to a fast-paced world of school, home, and a variety of relationships with the expectation that they are prepared to internally motivate and self-regulate. Unfortunately, many adolescents navigate their environment through poor choices, dangerous behaviors, and negative acting out. These destructive choices sabotage their ability to achieve success while damaging family relationships. Through the integration of adventure-based activities, wilderness expeditions, experiential education, and academic coursework , adolescents are guided toward cultivating a more centralized sense of the whole self, an awareness of personal strengths and abilities, an acceptance and accountability of the full impact of their poor decisions, and the insight and tools needed to succeed through life's ongoing challenges.

Therapy is about making changes and it is my honor to help my clients find their personal path toward their goals. The more I can help a person be connected and honest with themselves, the more they will make decisions, take action, and reach their destination toward their most authentic, happy self.

Shoray Kirk, Counselor in Greenville
“Evidence shows that understanding of our strengths and deficits helps us turn negative and habitual patterns of thought and behavior into healthy ones. Counseling provides us with new and constructive pathways out of repetitive, self-defeating patterns; and provides us with new perspectives which enable us to address life's challenges/obstacles effectively and constructively. Helping clients tap into their own inner compass and hidden gifts is one of the many privileges of my profession. I deeply value assisting my clients through seemingly impossible impasses toward a deeper/solid sense of fulfillment and well-being, both internally and inter-personally.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is for the patient needing more structure than individual outpatient therapy. The IOP consists of 9 hours of group therapy per week. The Day treatment / Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is for patients ages 16 and up, transitioning from residential treatment centers or individuals requiring intensive daily structured meals and programming. “Life is tough... We all face those times of life transition, unexpected challenges and points when we no longer can accept the status quo. However, sometimes its hard to know how to proceed. Change can be a struggle. Finding meaningful connection with the past and promise in the future can tire one's soul. However, I believe such change is possible for each of us. It is possible to make purposeful changes in life whether they be personal, contextual, or both. Life is tough... but there is always hope.
