How often do we remain stuck in the same patterns that result in continued frustration, discouragement, and overwhelm? We may have tried over and over, to stick to a "better lifestyle plan" and yet continue to stay stuck. I see you. I recognize the difficulty in taking steps forward, while still experiencing the doubts and struggles, of living with a mental health condition. I believe we all have the power to heal ourselves. It doesn't matter what struggles we face, our mind and our body intuitively know what is best for us, in our healing journey. If given the chance, it is possible to evolve into that which we were created.

Reaching out for help or just someone to talk to can be a difficult first step. I am glad you are here and considering therapy. I am a client-centered, gender affirming, non-judgmental, compassionate and empathetic person. My goal is to help you be and feel your best. My focus is on the relationship between the client and the therapist to make change. I believe when you cultivate a therapeutic relationship based on trust and honesty it allows the client to be vulnerable and make change.

If you're like me, life can feel overwhelming at times. It's easy for us to get stuck in depression, anxiety, stress, anger, etc. Our emotions and thoughts can take us over if we don't know how to better manage them. Do you find yourself ruminating on the past? Worrying about the future? Getting pissed off about way too many things? It's easy to lose our way in life. If any of this feels familiar, you're not alone. Life is hard, but we can all learn different ways to better manage our own life. You can take control of your life.

I recognize that life can bring challenges and you may want help through grief, trauma, shifts in life or you may be dealing with a mental health diagnosis.
I am passionate about mental health! I believe mental health is an integral part of a person’s overall well-being. Many people put their mental health on the “back burner” so to speak, thinking that it may be passing or not as important as other “health” issues. It is important. It helps us balance everyday issues and is an essential part of decision making. Everyone feels anxious, angry, or sad, some have bigger mental health issues. If you find your symptoms are disrupting your function of everyday life, I can help.

Are you reliving past trauma or experiencing depression, anxiety, distress, or a general sense of feeling stuck? For over twenty-five years, I have specialized in helping clients with these as well as other life-interfering conditions. In today’s world, one can become easily overwhelmed, practice unhealthy coping skills, and develop a negative view of oneself and others. Often, we lose sight of the fact that there is a solution.

Want to feel less stressed or worried? To live in confidence, not anxiety or fear? We can help. You don't have to feel edgy or burned out. Your life can be what you hope for, not worry about. Making mistakes, having things go wrong, and needing to heal is part of life and being human. So is forgiving ourselves and others and trying again. You can change direction and heal. Become free to take a new path knowing that you have a right to what you think and how you feel. The past doesn't have to control the present or predict the future. We can't change what's happened. But we can start where we are and make a new beginning.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
