Tired of feeling stressed, overwhelmed and unmotivated? Do you find yourself struggling to make time for yourself? The women that I work with often have full schedules with work, family, children, school and everything else, with very little time to prioritize their own health and well-being. They are typically in need of better coping strategies to help manage their symptoms of anxiety, stress and depression. Their goals are usually to feel mentally, emotionally and physically stronger to allow them to feel more confident and focused in their day to day life.

Has the state of the world left you freaking exhausted? Do you drag yourself through your days at work or school with a fake smile on your face? Do you spend more of your free time than you'd like either stuck in a blanket burrito listening to Bo Burnham's "Inside" on repeat and drinking too much or catering to everyone's needs but your own?

I understand how important emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health are for each of us, and I am dedicated to the process and journey to see that this is accomplished to the best of my abilities. I have been a practicing therapist for over 30 years. I have a breadth of training and experience.I am ethical, promoting high professional standards. I am caring and thorough, with a significant amount of compassion. My style is somewhat straight-forward, and I tend to tell it like I see it, hoping to help people move forward in a positive, but short term way.

Life is difficult and requires constant change, adjustment, and resilience. We need support at times. I am passionate about joining you in your journey to healing in spite of everything happening around you. By providing a safe space and therapeutic relationship I hope to be with you as you process your story, understand yourself in light of the pieces of your life, and identify a plan to restore health and hope. When we are unwell, it touches every part of our lives. I see therapy as an opportunity to build awareness of yourself, connect with what is happening internally in the presence of another, and begin implementing change.

Anastasis is the Greek word for which we derive the word "resurrection" meaning "raising up or rising up." Finding the ability to rise above life's challenges can leave you feeling hopeless and the journey to reconnect with life can often be a difficult one, especially when your journey includes recovery from traumatic events or struggles with substance addiction. I am here to walk along side you and help equip you for the bright future that awaits you. I believe you can hope again, you can dream again, your joy will be restored and your strength renewed. Yes, you can get up again!!!

Do you feel alone, invisible, and unimportant, like the person you love is rarely there for you emotionally: so you pursue your partner and even have occasional outbursts just to try to get through to them? Do you feel overwhelmed, like no matter what you do it is never good enough to please the person you love: so you defend yourself, shut down, or turn away in your relationship? Are you feeling frustrated and stuck, like there is no way you can get through to the person you care about? Are you feeling depressed and anxious, and the problems in your relationship seem to make it worse? You don't have to stay stuck. There is hope.

Therapy may not be the first thing you think about during tough times. However it may be the right step to take to get to that desired place in your life. I am a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate who has a passion for working with children, adolescents, and adults that struggle with mental health and behavioral health conditions as well as individuals who seek to explore and execute personal and professional goals, but would benefit from guidance on how to navigate through different obstacles that they may be facing.

If you decided to start therapy today, and you feel that you are being heard for the first time. There is someone helping you understand your experiences, your hardship, your thoughts and your feelings. How different would you feel, and be? I focus on emotions, attachment, and experience and how it has affected your mental health. I work through emotions with my clients and help them find their sense of self, vulnerability, and emotional balance. I help individuals understand their experiences and feelings that they have, and I sit in those moments and process and grow with them.

The stress of life is often overwhelming. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, recovering from trauma, or having conflict with loved ones and all of these things and more make it harder to manage even the smallest of stressors. You just want to get through a day without feeling like the weight of the world is on your shoulders or like you want to find a place to hide. Or maybe you feel stuck and don’t know how to take the next step to get where you want to be in life.

Taking a humanistic approach to therapy, I want to work with you to help you understand and appreciate the importance of your self-actualization.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
