I use EMDR, DBT, TRE and hypnosis for trauma.
Do you sometimes wonder if past incidents like sexual assault/abuse, dysfunctional family, accident/illness or chronic stress are impacting your current life, emotions and relationships, even if you've already worked through the shock of it? Are you seeking to become more connected with your body in a healthy way? My focus is on releasing trauma, depression, anxiety and the emotional components of chronic conditions from the mind and body to facilitate healing using a holistic and integrative approach.

My work is informed by AEDP (Emotion, body, & experiential focus), Internal Family Systems (parts work), Emotionally Focused Therapy, Jungian depth psychology, neurobiology, & brainspotting (a form of EMDR) for trauma.
Do you sometimes feel alone and sad even with friends and family? Together, we can explore these feelings, transform them, and increase vitality. We will unravel issues that may be causing suffering or isolation; such as depression and anxiety, loss and grief, trauma, or substance abuse. We will face the dragons of suffering together, and unleash your wise and intuitive self to become empowered and embodied. Our work will allow you to remove the barriers to an emotionally close and satisfying relationship with yourself and others. This allows for a greater sense of joy & aliveness.

We will look for whatever way Psyche wants to show herself; not only through dreams, artwork, sandtray getting our attention but EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) that is needed to release deep trauma that is the cause of ongoing suffering.
My offerings come as a seasoned practitioner and a Jungian Analyst from the C.G. Jung Institute in Colorado, I love working with clients who want to explore and make needed changes in the behavioral patterns that are no longer serving them in their lives and relationships. Together we can create an environment that safely holds the space for deep self exploration of defended wounds that are often manifested as addictions, anxiety, fear, depression and dissociative reactions; while working toward self-acceptance, non-judgement and the transpersonal retrieval of mind, body and soul.

I have explored spirituality through meditation practices, sacred plants and nature, addictions through personal experiences and training, trauma through accidents and EMDR training, and practiced Ecopsychology because of a deep need to understand how humans might exist in healthier and more sustainable ways.
As an eclectic psychotherapist, I use many approaches, and have an ability to be deeply present with your experiences. I offer grounded, thoughtful, creative, playful, kind, and compassionate support. My desire is to assist you through challenges and help you find balance and healing. My mirror of reflection is through 15 years work in community mental health, with wide ranging mental health and addiction issues. I've experienced oneness, Christ Consciousness, transpersonal, and non-ordinary states, yet also my own drama and occasional trauma. I am here to help raise awareness, create options, and facilitate you finding your way.

I utilize the neuro-behavioral therapies of EMDR and Brainspotting extensively because they recruit the self-healing capacity of your heart/mind to transform your unhelpful story to a more adaptive, flexible, and enriching one.
I welcome clients who seek therapy in order to change behaviors, relationships, or careers that are unsatisfying, and those who wish to unleash their creative energies - in the arts, business, academia, in parenting, and partnership. I especially enjoy clients who are questioning their relationship with addictive substances and are ready to take positive action. I have a warm and engaging style that my cients enjoy. I also specialize in healing the trauma of equestrian accidents.

With EMDR, PACT for couples, Sandplay, mindfulness, and somatic awareness, we find deeper understanding and support positive change.
I work with a diversity of adults and couples experiencing relationship issues, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and life transitions. You may get into a pattern of conflict with your partner that feels repetitive. You may be struggling to find a sense of balance or hope, navigating life transition, feeling afraid to engage in activities you once enjoyed. You may be experiencing self-judgment, low self-worth, shame or just seeking change. I view these struggles as normal responses to past wounding, and an opportunity for deeper growth and acceptance. When you feel seen and heard in therapy, deep healing is possible.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
