My "typical" client is of high intelligence, creativity, ingenuity and kindness, who attempts to address issues that keep emerging, preventing them from being fully happy and at their best. These problems often include depression, anxiety, loss, childhood trauma, addictions, and relationship dissatisfaction. All too often, people emerge from childhood with wounds related to family turmoil, parental loss, abuse, neglect, abandonment and various addictions. The aftermath can be emotionally unrelenting, despite repeated attempts to make "external" fixes. Sharing your pain with a Psychologist in an emotionally safe environment can help start the healing process.

Together, we will create balance and inner peace so that you can be in a healthy relationship with yourself and others.
Therapy is a deeply personal experience. There are many points of transition, uncertainty and challenge in each of our lives. In these times, it is common to feel overwhelmed and unsure. These challenges can be best navigated with the help of a trusted professional. It can be hard to ask for help but having the strength to reach out can often be the best step to take in working through many issues that we are confronted with. I would be honored to take your hand and provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can begin to work through the therapeutic process.

And I work with couples and families who are dealing with disconnection, trust, communication, and other relationship issues.
Finding the right therapist can be a daunting process. There are a lot of people to choose from but connecting with the person who will be right for you is extremely important. In fact, research shows that the biggest predictor of successful therapy is the relationship that you have with your therapist. I am passionate about building a strong alliance with my clients, teaching them positive coping skills, and helping them to fully explore their current and past experiences to promote growth and bring about lasting change. I work from a person-centered perspective, which simply means that I take an empathetic, empowering approach.

Life is full of transitions that aren't always easy to navigate, especially after experiencing a pandemic. I want to help you tap into your inner strength in order to live your best life. I love working with individuals, teens, and couples who are willing to step out of their comfort zones so that they can start to believe in themselves. Reaching out for help isn't always easy, but I believe that you are capable of doing hard things. The therapeutic journey takes a lot of courage and bravery, but when we work together, the result can be pretty spectacular.

I taught elementary school, grades 4-8 for 17 years before going back to school to get my Masters and become a Marriage and Family Therapist. I have enjoyed working with mostly individual adults over the last 34 years and couples. I believe that the work of therapy is about the relationship we form with the therapist in our work to become whole and healthy adults. I am semi-retired, work one day a week still enjoying the work I do with my clients.

I have a passion for working with adolescents & adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, suicidality, low self-esteem and codependency. I adhere to a Person-Centered counseling approach which means, therapy gets to be all about you, where you are valued and you can say what’s on your mind without fear of judgment. Therapy is a process that takes time, effort & a willingness to be vulnerable and self-reflect. But the biggest predictor of success in therapy is having a good relationship with your therapist, so why not give me a call for a free consultation.

I offer psychotherapy through the life cycle and I believe that each of us brings our unique history and experience to each relationship, with our partner, our children, our colleagues, friends and families. Through dialogue and learning deep empathy and understanding of ourselves as well as our partners, we can learn to trust, heal old wounds and love more deeply, and find deep satisfaction within ourselves and in our relationships.

Having over 30 years of experience & training with couples, adults (both in and seeking relationships) and parents, my style is collaborative, empathic and effective.
Most of us want the same thing: to be happy. If you are on this website, you are most likely experiencing some discomfort - mental, physical, emotional - and have realized that sometimes it's hard to go it alone. You may be facing tenacious challenges like loneliness, less-than-satisfying relationships, illness, ADHD, anxiety, grief, low self-esteem, body/food conflicts, procrastination and parenting issues. If so, having someone who knows the terrain makes for a more successful outcome.

Some of the most common conditions I see include depression, anxiety, transgender issues, relationship problems, attachment issues, self-esteem, and anger problems.
My name is Dena Webster; I am a licensed clinical social worker. My goal in providing therapy is to make a difference for everyone one day at a time. I meet my clients where they are and consider their whole environment when identifying issues and resolving them. My approach to therapy is eclectic; I incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and coping skills. I realized that having someone to talk to and a safe place to say the hard things was helpful. I also noticed I have always been that friend everyone talks to process their problems.

My work focuses on dealing with the symptoms that can arise for individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, life transitions, past trauma and family/relationship issues.
Sometimes we can find ourselves in a place in life where we are unsure of what we want to do next. Life situations and transitions can often leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed or full of self doubt. Finding a space and tools to navigate these times is how therapy can really help. We all want to feel better, more self assured in our relationships and in our everyday lives. I work with clients to figure out what is holding them back from the life they want. If you feel that you are in a place that you need extra support, reach out. We will work together to create the life you want.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
