I love Mississippi and I love meeting the people who live here. I believe everyone has a story and I consider it an honor to be in a position to hear those stories. I come from a Christian perspective and the interventions I use are congruent with my beliefs and values. The primary interventions I use are from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and other proven family therapy models. For over 30 years, I have worked with children, adolescents, college students, women, and parents focusing on mood and anxiety disorders, adjustment problems, parenting concerns, behavioral difficulties, and family and relationship issues.

I enjoy working with youth, adolescents, young adults, and middle-aged adults with a variety of needs such as low self-esteem, poor self-image, depression, anxiety, trauma, thoughts of suicide, peer relationships, family conflicts, identity issues, and life transitions. My services focus on regaining a sense of control over triggers that have caused difficulty in daily functioning by providing coping skills.

I am currently working with all ages of clients and enjoy every developmental stage of life, however I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults. I have a good deal of clinical experience in treating clients with symptoms of anxiety, depression, and anger issues. I've worked with many children whose parents are going through divorce or separation and the many issues which stem from such a family disruption. Another client population that I frequently see is gay and lesbian individuals of all ages.

Many of my clients enter therapy for the first time not knowing what to expect. As your therapist, I will explain the therapy process and paint a clear picture of where we are going. I work to provide an empathetic, safe environment for all of my clients, but I am especially skilled at helping clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transition & existential issues. My training also equips me to work with couples and families struggling with a wide variety of challenges. Some of these may include infidelity, parenting issues, and pre-marital counseling. I truly love helping people discover just how precious and important they are to the world around them. I do not like to see people suffer. I know what that feels like. I believe that the client has, within himself or herself, the ability to find his or her way to wellness when they are given the right person to accompany them on that way. Moreover, I have discovered that when the client is given the opportunity to safely explore his or her self and how they relate to the world around them that they arrive at healthier understandings how they exist in their worlds. When they do, they gain agency and the capacity to heal.

Interactive Therapies began in order to serve the needs of children and families' behavioral, emotional, and other psychological challenges. I offer interactive, creative, and innovative approaches to many of the challenging issues facing families and their children here in North Mississippi. I am passionate about involving caregivers in the therapeutic process and facilitating change by helping all participates feel validated and understood.

I have been in private practice as a licensed clinical social work. since 1989. I have a master's degree from Tulane University where I served on the advisory board for the School of Social Work. I was a consultant at the Master's and Johnson Sexual Trauma Unit in New Orleans, trained in critical incident debriefing, and served as a divorce and custody mediator for the courts in Louisiana. I enjoy working with adults both individually and as couples. I enjoy helping people find patterns that no longer work for them and teaching new strategies for coping and growing.

I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of practice settings over the past 20 years. My primary area of interest and training is working with children under the age of 10 dealing with issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, autism, developmental delay, divorce, grief, medical issues, behavioral problems, and more. I believe children have limitless potential for growth and they have an innate capacity for resiliency. I also believe that parents and primary caregivers play a critical role in a child's recovery and a joint approach to working with children is essential to healing.

I believe therapy is a place of non-judgment that allows you to express your thoughts, emotions, and the secrets we only tell ourselves. I believe that each person is an individual and their world is unique. I approach therapy with my clients by helping to explore the world as they see it and act as a guide to help them become more self-empowered.
