When kids’ emotions are high, logic and language can be low, and when we can’t look to reason, we should look to connection. My passion is working with toddlers, children, adolescents, & young adult women seeking connection, balance, self-awareness, and healing when facing emotional/behavioral struggles, school-related issues, family/relationship challenges, life-transitions, and self-esteem. Accepting Clients: As an EMDR-trained trauma therapist, I help teens, adults, and couples explore pain, expose fear, and experience healing in a real and lasting way. You're probably thinking that something has got to change. You feel stuck, empty, hurt, angry, or just altogether lost in a sea of overwhelming feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. You've been nervous to ask for help, let alone discuss, the difficulties of navigating life and trying to "keep it all together" when things don't feel right at all. Pehaps it's time to try something new.

I believe that we as humans are wired for safety and connection and can experience difficulty within ourselves and our relationships when these needs are not met. I see that there is a need behind all behaviors, and I seek to approach the issues your child or teen is experiencing with curiosity and compassion. I recognize that you as a caregiver may be worn out, and as a thoughtful listener, I bring a welcoming spirit to hard conversations. In family systems work, I find value in empowering caregivers to understand their role and their individual children and teens more deeply.

I believe that walking alongside hurting individuals, couples, and families is a crucial element on the path to healing. Brokenness, chaos, shattered relationships, and loss are often concealed gifts of transformation. People who have experienced trauma resulting in attachment struggles, addictions, anxiety, codependency and relational conflict are common to the individuals I see. Keith, my husband, and I offer couples and family therapy together as we feel that it is effective and expedient. When I am not counseling with my husband, I work with individuals and families who are in crisis and are desperate for change.

I truly believe we all have within us the capacity to live a great and meaningful life. If you struggle to believe this, it is often a symptom of living life out of alignment with your core values or attunement with who you truly are. It's easy to get bogged down and covered by all the expectations and narratives placed on us from outside sources (family, work, society, etc.) and we lose ourselves in all the noise. Work with me will include slowing down, turning inward, & getting clear on what matters most to you, which will in turn influence your decision-making and shape your perspective and how you view life moving forward.

I'm open to a broad client base but my predominant experience is with first gen college students, pro athletes & their family members. I ran the mental health services for UW athletics and am currently the consulting clinician for the Seattle Mariners and the NHL. I work best with driven people experiencing a big change. Perhaps, despite your best efforts, things aren’t working out as you’d hoped. Or perhaps you’ve gotten all you wanted and it doesn’t satisfy the way you thought it might. Though I often work with athletes I am not a Sports Psych. In fact, I don’t even follow sports! I’m here for the rest of your life and identity.

I work with a range of clients and issues, but specialize in dissociation and complex trauma in addition to work with teens, young adults, and the LGBTQIA+ community. My biggest strengths as a counselor are my empathy and open-mindedness. I meet clients where they are at, tailoring our work to your preferences and needs, whether you would benefit most from talk therapy, skill building, trauma processing, or a combination of these. This supports building individualized treatment plans and applying creative and validating techniques.

Someone once asked me what percent of my clients experience progress. After some reflection, I was in awe, as the answer was "all of them who desire change." Meet Dr. Reeder: He is a Certified Anger Management specialist (CAMSII) with the National Anger Management Association (NAMA). He holds a Masters Degree in Counseling (MMFT), A Doctoral Degree in Counseling Education (D.Ed.Min). For over a decade Dr. Reeder has provided court approved anger classes to thousands of individuals. He has extensive training in helping individuals, couples, and family members to positively identify their triggers, learn coping and other strategies, reframe responses to anger. Hello! I am a therapist that specializes in family therapy and therapy for children and teens ages 3-18. I also enjoy working with adults of all ages who are experiencing grief. I believe that children and families are exceptionally resilient. However, there are times when circumstances become too overwhelming to bear alone. Children may have difficulty sharing their emotions verbally and will instead act out, causing stress in the family. My passion is creating a safe space for healing to occur.
