Clinical Social Work/Therapist, MFA, MSW, LCSW
“In my psychotherapy practice with adolescents, men, women and families the focus is typically on issues such as behavioral concerns, depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD and anger. I believe that everyone is entitled to be treated with respect and honesty and that therapy should start where the client is at. Additionally, each client has their own ways of gaining insight and implementing new patterns into their lives and will have their own pace at which they discover the strengths within themselves. I like to work with the client to discover what is most effective for them and go from there.

“I feel very fortunate to be working with naturopathic doctors, massage therapists and acupuncturists at the Holistic Medical Clinic. My role as a licensed social worker, certified nutrition educator and individual, couple, child and family therapist is an important one at the clinic. With over thirty years of experience, I bring skills as a certified cognitive behavioral therapist, ACHE certified hypnotherapist and EMDR trained clinician to an integrative healing envrionment. Within a small clinical setting my clients have received important assistance and support, especially in areas dealing with trauma, anxiety, and depression.

Marriage & Family Therapist, MA, LMFT, LPC
“"Identity is a social achievement". We live the stories we've had told about us, connected in a web of relationships with both people & ideas. Some of these narratives add to our agency, our freedom of choice, while others pigeonhole us into categories that make it difficult to pursue our preferences. In times of need people turn to those who can best support & advocate for our preferred selves, over & against overwhelming problems. Most of the time these supports are part of our natural circles: family, friends, a church leader, the lady at the grocery checkout. Sometimes others are drawn in.

“We are stronger than we appear, more vulnerable than we know, and cleaver at keeping these truths from ourselves. Therapy is a mirror to see ourselves that gives us tools to access our strengths, compensate for our weak spots, and to take charge of our hearts, our minds, our lives.

Cascade's Depression Treatment for Seniors, Treatment Facility in Fairbanks
“Major depressive disorder is a mental illness that is characterized by a combination of symptoms that interfere with an individual's ability to work, sleep, eat, or enjoy what used to be pleasurable activities. Having major depression can be extremely disabling and prevent a person from functioning on a normal basis from day to day. While some individuals may only experience a single episode within their lifetime, more often than not most individuals will experience multiple episodes. Dysthymia is another form of a depressive disorder that lasts at least two years or longer. Although the symptoms of dysthymia may not be severe enough to disable a person, they can still prevent an individual from functioning normally. Finally, minor depression is diagnosed when an individual has symptoms for at least two weeks, but are not severe enough to meet the criteria for major depression. While not debilitating, men and women with minor depression should still receive treatment because they are at a high risk for developing major depressive disorder.

“If you are going through a difficult time, or suffering from anxiety or/and depression, 20 years of counseling experience is now available to you through my TELEPHONE COUNSELING service. As in my face-to-face practice, telephone counseling clients are always treated with empathy and kindness. Telephone counseling is not only a convenient method of therapy but, due to its relative anonymity, clients often feel more comfortable to speak on the phone about personal problems.
