“Therapy should not be complicated - it's really about sitting down and talking with another person without feeling judged, talked down to, or being told what to do. My goal is to provide safe, nurturing, and effective psychotherapy to adult, adolescents, children, and families. I use practical and individually tailored approaches. With children and teens my approach is relaxed and non-threatening. I often use play therapy techniques such as: games, art activities, and sand tray. You and I would consider short term, solution-focused counseling as a strategy to work on your concern. Is there a relationship in your life that feels strained? Our counseling process would likely include working to improve communication patterns and re-discovering the needs of all concerned. “Obsessive Compulsive and Related Disorders (OCD) are a group of conditions that effect as many as 2% of the population. These disorders impact people's lives in a real and sometimes devestating manner. Sometimes OCD compels people to have behavior or thougths that seem to be out of their control. Further, these thoughts and behaivors often feel mandatory, as if they are not a choice...people feel that they must complete these rituals in order to feel "OK". That is a powerless position, one that many endure daily in their battle against their symptoms of anxiety and distress. The good news is that there is treatment for OCD. OCD often responds to evidenced-base approaches call Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, specifically Exposure/Response Prevention (E/RP). We provide treatment for OCD in our office and in the community. We offer treatment options that include extended hours and week-long formats. Our staff have received extensive, advanced clinical training in the implementation of OCD treatment techniques. To discuss treatment options and to schedule your first appointment, please call Elizabeth at (830) 515-8480.

“Life can become challenging, at times. Most of these challenges are opportunities for growth and learning. However, we are frequently too close to these problems to see the solutions, accurately. I like to use the analogy of holding a book against our own face and attempting to read it. This is an impossible task. However, if you turn the book around so another can read it aloud, it becomes easy, for both to gain the needed wisdom. This is what therapy is; another objective, neutral person looking at the problems. With new insight and behaviors, life begins to be a joy, again.
