“Hi, I'm Cheryl. I have 10+ years of experience as a Clinical Social Worker/therapist. I see therapy as a process of introspection with compassion. Within therapy, one learns to listen and respond with compassion for oneself and others. In therapy, one can develop the ability to expand awareness and be more flexible in making life choices. My specialties include depression, anxiety, loss and grief, relationship issues, gay and lesbian issues, and trauma. I use a blend of cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic models and work with individuals, couples and groups.

“I have had good success with working with the resolution of depression and anxiety with clients for over 30 years. I work with people who are trying to improve their marriage or reluctantly must decide another direction. Sometimes men are ambivalent about trusting therapy. While the national norm is that therapist caseloads are 70/30 % women more than men, my norm is an even split between men and women. Men do find they can make headway on stubborn relational or emotional issues. I also see adolescent boys as they make their transition into young manhood.

“"Only in an open non judgmental space can we acknowledge what we are feeling. Only in an open space where we're not caught up in our own version of reality can we see and hear and feel who others really are, which allows us to be with them and communicate with them properly." This quote by Pema Chodron, an American Buddhist Nun expresses the atmosphere I hope to create for clients seeking counseling services from me.
