Jeffrey Klein, Counseling Services for Wellbeing, Counselor in Burien
“From a young age I witnessed people in my life struggle with depression, anxiety and various addiction challenges. Ultimately they turned their lives around for the positive with the skills they acquired through therapy. Their transformation has taught me that resiliency and strength can be challenged through adversity, but also restored. If you are motivated through the suffering you are experiencing and want to achieve a greater sense of personal well-being, we offer personalized services to help you meet your goals.

“Throughout my career I have worked with adults, children and families. I have experience working with children as young as three, most of whom had experienced trauma in their lives and were having difficulty coping emotionally and behaviorally. I have also served adults with a wide range of difficulties, each uniquely presenting a new challenge in which I mold and adjust my style to best suit the client. “Life is challenging! I enjoy working with people who long to celebrate this gift of life, be it through personal dreams and goals, within their marriage or relationships, or at work. We encounter limitations at different times, and it can help tremendously to have an 'outside' person to gain perspective. As a former pastor, I learned to work and walk with people as they journeyed through a variety of issues. Now, as a counselor, I am able to work in a deeper and more focused way. I love people, listening to their stories, offering compassion and insight as able.

Avalon Center, Treatment Facility in Burien
“I bought Avalon Center in 2007 with the idea that both Mental Health and Addiction issues need to be treated at the same time. Research has proven that evidenced based treatment works to heal. Men's and women's groups were formed as each have unique treatment needs. Each group does much better without having to worry about being "on". People have relationship issues that don't need to be complicated by worrying about it in a group. The group is a safe place to be and share. Avalon Center is a Washington State Certified Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient program meaning Avalon meets criteria for court ordered assessment, treatment and ongoing care for addiction. Avalon can work with your lawyer for reports to courts and probation. Avalon has separate programs for men and women that helps with addiction and mental health. Individual therapy is available for those who have difficulty with groups. Coping Skills Group ( based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy {DBT} by M. Linehan) is an introduction to mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal relationships and emotion regulation. Issues with learning how to cope with stress without alcohol/drugs is a contributing problem to relapsing over and over again.

“My life experiences combined with my training give me a compassionate understanding of people and their struggles. Mother of six, one killed in an accident, grandmother of seven, one developmentally delayed. These traumas, though sad, have been great teachers. I use humor and common sense in my own humanistic style. Improving your sense of humor will help with personal growth, relationships, grief, pain, and your emotional and physical health. Designing Therapeutic Gardens gives me a sense of the cycle of life and I use Healing Horticulture with some of my clients.
