Are you feeling overwhelmed, alone and unsure of how to cope? I am a psychologist and will help you manage relationship stress, depression, anxiety or trauma and help you feel more joy and connection. I will help you through the difficult experience of loss or painful life changes. I will also help you move forward with your life and and become emotionally stronger. I have a specialty in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and managing overwhelming emotions. New mothers/fathers may bring babies under 1 year to sessions. I am looking forward to meeting you. Sessions are offered in-person or virtually.
In addition to private practice, I have worked for 15+ years providing psychotherapy and assessment to men and women adjusting to life changes, including loss, parenthood, divorce, trauma, and medical illness. I also led hospital programs in NYC and NJ in Women's Health, Primary Care, Teambuilding and Caregiver Support.
Starting therapy takes courage. I will support you throughout the process and work collaboratively to help you identify and work through emotional obstacles and challenges. I have extensive training in psychoanalytic and cognitive-behavioral therapies, DBT, trauma, substance abuse, depression, and other modalities.

Groups
DBT Skills Group (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)
In my (virtual) DBT Skills groups, you will learn new skills to manage overwhelming emotions, unstable moods, and/or self-destructive behaviors/urges. The purpose of DBT is to help people learn coping skills in their lives so that we can build a "life worth living." DBT is a compassionate and evidence-based approach based on over twenty years of research. Four modules taught include: Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, Mindfulness and Interpersonal Effectiveness. Please contact Dr. Michelson for a consultation meeting. Members should be 18 years or older to join. Individual DBT therapy may also be available upon request.
