I have experience working with teens and young adults from all walks of life but specialize in working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, especially members of the transgender community. I have worked with individuals with anxiety and mood disorders, issues related to identity development, PTSD/trauma, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, grief/loss, and life transitions and adjustment concerns. I continue to provide Gender Affirming Care Letters of Support, despite many legal attacks on the transgender community here in Florida. I believe that everyone is valid in their gender identity, and no law can change the veracity of that.
My clinical focus is on existential techniques: what is life, really, and what is it that makes us tick? We humans are fascinating, complicated creatures with fascinating and complicated lives! I use a mixture of gestalt, cognitive, and feminist-theory empowered techniques to help clients explore the whys and hows of life, no matter how difficult.
When I work with a client, I always start by getting to know them as a person. I emphasize compassion and unconditional positive regard to help my clients explore themselves. I believe that exploration of the self is the true final frontier, and to do so is both to see oneself as greater as well as to gain perspective on the world at large.
