As a counselor I have 20+ years of experience working with adults and children. I treat my clients in a compassionate and professional manner and my approach is usually eclectic as I choose them according to the needs of my client. Techniques used by me are CBT, REBT, ACT, Motivational, Gestalt approach, meditation, relaxation and guided imagery. My expertise is in mood disorders such as depression, bipolar disorders, and on anxiety disorders such as OCD, panic disorder, and phobias. Anger management in relationships and marriage and relationship therapy are also my interest areas as well as resolution of trauma issues, whether acute or chronic. I have and continue to treat dually diagnosed substance abuse clients.
I focus on educating and empowering my clients by teaching them skills for coping better with their condition and in all domains of life. I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy, REBT, Gestalt therapy and motivational therapy as interventions. My methods also include systematic desensitization and guided imagery/meditation etc. for treating anxiety and trauma issues. I believe that a combination of an empathetic approach, accurate assessment and appropropriate interventions will invariably lead to success when the client is invested in therapy.
As a counselor for 20 years, my experience has been mostly with the majority culture but I am skilled in my training to treat other diverse population. I am also fluent in languages such as Hindi, Bengali and Urdu.
