Not accepting new clients
Since 2010, my intention in working with my clients has been to hold a safe and confidential space that supports self-exploration and awareness, connection, curiosity, and personal growth. I understand that seeking out and accepting help can be uncomfortable and that it takes bravery to be vulnerable, and vice versa. I focus on building secure and trusting therapeutic alliances with the people I get to work with to create a personalized approach to their unique needs and goals. I believe that we are each the experts in our own lives and that the catalyst of change and healing comes from our relationship with ourselves and others.

Currently Accepting New Clients. Life is the journey we take to find ourselves in a search for meaning and purpose. As the roads of life are traveled it is easy to become disoriented, lost, or overwhelmed. Healing can happen when we are able to find our way and reconnect with ourselves and others. I believe this is a collaborative process that is most effectively done through connection and developed awareness. My goal is to help you build a diverse collection of skills to make your journey what you want it to be.

Whether individuals are struggling with depression, anxiety, psychosis or other severe mental health symptoms, trauma, legal issues or anything in between, I’ve learned that everyone wants to live their best life and generally be happier. Unfortunately sheer force of will is not usually enough to help them get there and they need a little help and support in the process. I also have a passion for helping working professionals such as medical professionals and other therapists who often feel like loved ones simply do not understand the pressures they experience have a safe place to discuss, get support, and decompress.

In my role as a psychologist, I work closely with individuals grappling with various challenges that are impacting their well-being, relationships, and overall functioning. I practice with the belief that therapy is a collaborative journey towards healing, insight, and meaningful change. Together, we delve into the roots of distress, uncovering patterns in thinking, feeling, and behaving that perpetuate it. We also address barriers to change and devise practical steps for lasting relief. Through this process, individuals gain a deeper understanding of themselves, fostering confidence, security, and meaningful connections.

If you are a human being who is struggling with "human stuff" I might be the therapist for you. I have been practicing for over 15 years and I am very interested in finding solutions that work for my patients as opposed to a "one size fits all approach". I have a strong background treating depression, anxiety, complex traumas, neuro-diverse individuals, and folks struggling with substance use disorders.

Hi my name is Lida Running Crane and I have recently transitioned to private practice after being a clinician at a local agency working primarily with our local urban Indigenous community for just short of nine years. I subsequently co-founded Aitapissko Counseling Collective LLC, the shared professional home in which my colleagues and I continue to offer quality mental health and addiction counseling to our local community. I earned my masters in counseling from the University of Montana in 2016 with my NCC, became an LCPC in 2018, and an LAC in 2020.

Couples, families, and individuals get stuck in patterns that disrupt the pursuit of connection and belonging. Building relationships with self and gaining insight into healing processes within us, leads to healing and increased ability engage in life. A safe, respectful, confidential setting improves the therapeutic relationship and leads to a more holistic approach to health and wellness. Substance use, behaviors, secrets, and many other traits contribute to one's inability to connect with others. Specializing in Substance use disorders and families, we can walk through the process with the entire family.

We all get stuck at times. I work with individuals and couples who are struggling with life/relationship challenges or addiction. I am here to help others overcome difficult experiences by learning to understand their authentic needs, create lasting bonds with others and find emotional freedom so that you can build the life you truly want. I believe in abundance and that everyone has the right and the capacity for healing, growth and inner peace. Because every individual and each couple arrive in counseling at different stages of change and readiness for healing, I feel it is imperative to meet everyone right where they are.

Soul School comes from the belief that as humans, we come with lessons to learn in this lifetime. Change can be terrifying to face. We don't have to do it alone. It takes courage to be here and taking steps towards receiving support in your healing. I work primarily with those who are willing to dive deep and are curious and motivated for change. Folks who may already have some insight or awareness, but are in need of a non-judgmental safe space to discuss it all and receive support in organizing their internal world to create a sense of understanding, peace, and alignment with their true selves.

Hi. I’m so glad you’re here. You’ve taken a crucial and courageous step towards healing. If you are new to therapy, I know it can feel awkward and maybe even intimidating. It’s okay. Together we will take it one step at a time. It will be challenging at times, but I will be here to support and guide you along the way. And, it will also be interesting and fun as you discover more about yourself and develop new skills.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Missoula?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
