Change is not easy; it is difficult; it takes courage. Although challenging, change is possible. In order to change, the individual must have the motivation & be given the opportunity to do so. I will work with you in a collaborative effort to improve your emotional state. My goal is to provide you with an appropriate, caring, & supportive environment where the steps towards change can become a possibility. Empathy is paramount to my practice. My theoretical orientations are primarily Cognitive-behavioral & Person-centered; although, I also use various eclectic & insight/awareness-oriented approaches.
These approaches are designed to challenge & reduce negative/distorted thoughts along with the accompanying self-defeating behaviors. My goal as your therapist is to increase positive/rational thinking that leads towards the effective management of life's problems. Most change occurs between therapy sessions & clients' experimentation with fresh ways of thinking, behaving, and feeling.
To incorporate change, I utilize unconditional positive regard along with cognitive & dialectical behavior strategies, hence assisting you in regulation of emotions, toleration of stress, & effective management of interpersonal conflicts. These are also very effective in the treatment of depression, addiction, anxiety, & other emotional issues. We will firmly establish goals & will measure progress along the way.
