William Whitney, MSt, MFT, Marriage & Family Therapist in Pasadena
The poet Rumi writes: "Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it." Most of us desire more fulfilling relationships, but sometimes struggle in how to make this happen. We can't always change others, but, like the quote above mentions, we can work on ourselves.
Whether you are trying to navigate a difficult relationship, deepen an existing one, or if you find yourself in a place where you feel "stuck", we can work together to foster skills to develop more fulfilling relationships with those around you.
Reasonable goals for therapy include an increase in self-awareness and self-esteem, a reduction in stress, less anxiety and an increased ability to deal with a wide range of emotions. Please mention Psychology Today for a free consultation session.

William Whitney's Groups

Growth Group

If you have heard about group therapy before but never tried it, the limited 8-week format of the personal growth group is a great opportunity to see what it is about. This type of group will especially benefit those who have something in their interpersonal life with family, friendships or romantic relationships that they wish could change or be developed. In a typical session, and with the aid of the group leader, members not only understand themselves and their own issues but also become "helpers" for other members in the group.

Co-Ed Process Group

This "Process Group" is different from support or self-help groups since it provides a way for members to build self-awareness while also providing opportunities for change and growth within the group experience. The Group Leader selects people who would be helped by the group experience and can be learning partners for each other. This particular group focuses on becoming more aware of one's thoughts and feelings and freely expressing them as honestly as possible
