Monique Rodriguez, PhD, NCC, LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor in West Lake Hills
I believe that listening to the body's story as well as the mind's story provides you with a wealth of information about unresolved fears, strengths, and new possibilities. My practice is centered on helping you increase self-awareness and unfolding powerful change by bringing attention, curiosity and acceptance to your inner experience. I have extensive experience working with trauma, adult survivors of childhood abuse, addiction and long-term recovery, and dysfunctional families. Those who struggle with these traumatic stressors often find themselves in a cycle of repeated unsatisfying behaviors.
I focus on increasing self-awareness by attending to the breath and inviting clients to become more attuned to their body. I provide counseling that builds on the creativity and strengths of the client and draws on Gestalt therapy and body process.
My approach is rooted in the idea that the body has wisdom and by bringing awareness to our body, we gain access to memories, emotions, and beliefs that are otherwise outside of our awareness.

Monique Rodriguez's Groups

Embodied Presence

This process group will explore contact through the body. This group explores embodiment as the intentional focus on and awareness of internal body sensation. We will explore our own contact processes, including different contact styles as well as resistances to contact. We will understand more about the significance of their own physical reactions with themselves and others. Awareness of similarities and differences will be encouraged while interruptions to contact will be explored. Through dialogue, body-awareness, and individual and dyadic experiments, we will create an environment for self-exploration and personal growth.
