Lynn B Barnett, MA, LSCSW, LCSW, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Kansas City
I am a home based therapist. I believe all children deserve a loving family that knows how to best parent them. While I do not have an "ideal client" per se, I do believe no child should be taken off alone to develop an attachment to me, the therapist. Children should attach and bond to their parents so therapy with foster and adopted children is most effective within the family. When working with older youth in foster care, individual therapy may be warranted, but I would prefer to work with the family whenever that is a viable option.
I have two specific focus areas of practice. First, I am an attachment focused family therapist and I work with families with children fostered or adopted through the state welfare system or adopted internationallly. I also work with youth who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered.
