Liana Smith-Murphy, LCSW, RPT, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Brooklyn
I am a child and adolescent psychotherapist with a passion for helping young people, because sometimes childhood can be difficult. I have a flexible, holistic approach in which I tailor my work to meet the needs of each child depending on their personality, strengths, cognitive abilities, interests and the issues they require help with. I provide a safe, empathic and accepting environment for children to be heard and supported, and I strive to help my clients achieve happiness and peace.
I provide assessments, psychotherapy and play therapy to children and adolescents from birth to age 21 with a range of issues from autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and oppositional defiant disorder to eating disorders, emerging psychosis, OCD, anxiety and depression.
I help children with issues of separation anxiety, sibling rivalry, sleep disturbances, toilet training, and oppositional behavior. I support children with difficult transitions such as changing schools, birth of siblings, moving, and medical procedures. I collaborate with other professionals such as teachers and speech, occupational, and physical therapists.
