Trent L Culver, PysD, LCPC, CADC, Counselor in Palatine
My mission is to help individuals and families uncover their true potential and lead lives that are more connected and fulfilling. The orientation which I chose to treat clients originates from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is an evidence based approach that has proven to be an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. The cognitive model emphasizes that the results of our emotions and behaviors are directly influenced by how we perceive events. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life.
I have completed specialized training in therapy and diagnosis of children and adolescents in addition to my work with adults. I am a certified alcohol and drug counselor (CADC) and am strongly invested in providing a holistic treatment approach to this population. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults for 17yrs.
What makes New Transitions Counseling Center unique is that we run several groups. For example, we run a social recreational therapy group designed for individuals with high functioning autism spectrum disorders. Other groups include: support group for parents, addictions/recovery, & a girls group.

Trent L Culver's Groups

Teen Center

Teen center provides a valuable tool for working with adolescents and young adults who face a broad range of social/emotional, behavioral and developmental challenges. The teen center is a safe, fun, informal setting to help youth improve their social skills, increase their self-confidence and learn to have more successful, socially viable and meaningful interactions with peers and adults. It serves youth who are struggling with challenges like depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and insufficient social skills - including those with ADHD, and higher-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders - and youth with issues like being bullied, impaired self-regulation or a lack of social/emotional maturity.
