Emily Griffin, LICSW, LCSW-C, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Takoma Park
My practice prioritizes helping families to get off to a strong start, with a special focus on new parents and their babies. In-home services include: couples counseling, individual support around perinatal mental health for moms AND dads (aiming to prevent Postpartum Depression & Anxiety when possible), hands-on parenting support including my direct observation & modeling.
Building self-awareness and developing a rewarding parenting perspective is a unique and sensitive process for each mother & father. Many of us can use some support along the way. I am the mother of four sons & I bring lessons learned from my parenting journey into the work I do.
Call for a free phone or in-person consultation. Sliding scale rates available. In-home sessions are intended for you to be comfortable. No "cleaning up for company" needed. How I work with a particular family is unique to their situation, needs, & desired outcomes, while using evidence-based practices.

Prenatal Self-Care & Postpartum Planning

A new essential prenatal class for today's families. This workshop aims to proactively help parents get off to a strong start and learn the valuable ways to nurture psychological and emotional health during the major transition of welcoming a new baby into the family. Ideal for: expecting couples & women in any trimester (the earlier the better), individuals who have dealt with depression & anxiety who are now considering having a child, and anyone interested in optimal mental health during and after pregnancy.

Sibling Workshop Series

A new workshop on siblings!! Many parents are caught off guard by how hard it is to divide their attention, energy, and affection. Helping their first child cope with all the changes that a new baby brings can feel daunting. And when they get old enough to challenge each other, we grasp for ways to strengthen their bond- hoping to help them get along and be friends. This workshop will be a two-part series. **Contact me for a multiple class discount if you want to attend both. See more on website.
