Michael Yu, MS, LMHC, CMHS, EMMHS, Counselor in Tukwila
I am a Child and Ethnic Minority Mental Health Specialist with over ten years of experience working with children, teens, couples and families. Clients come to me with not one, but a number of complex issues that are negatively impacting their lives and their families in significant ways. This is why I believe in treating clients holistically, addressing the mind, body and spirit. I also believe the work clients do outside of therapy is as important as the work they do in therapy, and thus, I offer clients resources that will support and help them make lasting changes.
I also have unique experience working with children and adolescents in crisis, foster care and at-risk youths. Likewise, I know that parents and families who are supporting these youth experience a great deal of frustration, helplessness and hopelessness I know what they need and how to help them.
Being bilingual and bicultural, I am also able to provide therapy that is culturally competent and sensitive, as well as work specifically with families and couples where there may be language gaps between spouses and/or parents who speak primarily Chinese while their children speak primarily English.
