Betsy Van Dyke, PsyD, Psychologist in Chadds Ford
I specialize in treating children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of presenting issues, specifically obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety spectrum disorders. I have gained extensive experience in treating a variety of OCD presentations which includes sexual, violent, contamination, and religion/scrupulosity subtypes. I treat OCD with a type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) known as Exposure and Ritual Prevention (ERP), the gold standard for this disorder. Families are an important part of the treatment process, and so I involve them in every step of the way. I also incorporate play and creative interventions into treatment.
I have received specialized training in Exposure and Ritual Prevention (EXRP), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP). I am also trained in the treatment of PTSD, major depression, health anxiety, hoarding, trichotillomania, excoriation disorder, social anxiety, separation anxiety, phobias, body dysmporphic disorder, and anorexia nervosa.
Speaking to my therapeutic style, I highly value the therapeutic relationship with my clients. While I focus on opportunities for behavioral and emotional change through evidence based treatments, I also hope to reduce experiences of stigma, shame, and isolation.
