Jamie Zane Brazell, MEd, LMFT, CST, Marriage & Family Therapist in Asheville
Sex and relationships are top priorities for many people, but we don't often have quality education when it comes to these topics. Sometimes we experience trauma that can further impact our ability to engage in these ways, despite ongoing efforts. My best work as a therapist is with survivors of unwanted sexual experiences, reproductive or birth trauma, various types of internalized oppression (homophobia, transphobia, sexism, racism), or survivors of narcissistic abusers. I invest a whole lot of emotion into my clients and it is an honor to serve in this role with each therapeutic relationship.
I provide emotional/mental health counseling and sex therapy to diverse populations of people in all sorts of relationships (including non-monogamous or polyamorous relationships). I consider myself to be very open-minded, sex positive, feminist/humanist-informed, and competent to treat a variety of sexual issues or concerns.
I'm one of only 2 AASECT Certified Sex therapists in Asheville. I've served as a rape crisis counselor, an outpatient therapist for community mental health agencies, a sex educator, and an advocate for survivors of domestic violence. These experiences have greatly influenced my work as a therapist.
