Dr. Chris Burritt D.O., DO, Psychiatrist in Devon
I am Board Certified in both General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and I have experience working with all ages from young children to older adults from various backgrounds. My training enabled me to see a wide range of situations at locations including Einstein, Jefferson, and Nemours DuPont. I enjoy working with individuals as well as couples and families. In addition to treating specific symptoms such as depression or anxiety, patients and I have worked together to address other challenges such as managing work stress, improving communication in relationships, and sometimes identifying what is blocking them from getting more out of life.
I am a psychiatrist who treats patients with therapy and I may prescribe medication if needed. While medications can be important, I find that I can use them more selectively when I know an individual more deeply. My osteopathic medical school training has taught me to view each patient holistically.
Just as every person has individual strengths and difficulties, I also view each couple and family uniquely. With couples we often look at the barriers to hearing the other person more clearly. With families, I teach parenting skills tailored to the situation and address the different viewpoints of the parents.
