Gerald W. Greenfield, PhD, Psychologist in Madison
Are you looking for someone who is easy to talk to, a therapist who will listen to you attentively, supportively, and non-judgmentally - and offer helpful feedback? Are you looking for help with marital or relationship problems? Or for problems with depression, anxiety, anger, self-esteem, a bad childhood, or alcohol problems? I'm a licensed psychologist who has helped people with these and other problems for over 20 years (see "Specialties" and "Issues," below). Whatever your problems are - individual and/or relationship issues - I offer understanding, compassion, new perspectives, and new ways to cope with challenges.
I typically encourage enhanced attention to people's feelings and thoughts, and how they affect each other. With couples, I emphasize respectful understanding of each person's viewpoint, addressing blame and defensiveness that often fuel relationship conflict, and slowing down and enhancing communication. I have limited evening availability.
In contrast to a big clinic, I am an independent practitioner with a private waiting room and office that overlook a peaceful courtyard. Contact me by leaving a private voicemail message at 608-271-8799. I will call you back directly, typically the same day or next business day.
