Catherine M Ford, PhD, Psychologist in Austin
My goal is to support people in becoming their most authentic & loving selves. I have a particular interest in working with gay, lesbian, and bisexual people. My philosophy is to offer "respectful psychotherapy - the freedom to express and explore your self".
I offer both short-term services to help people rapidly meet the challenges of their lives, and longer-term work for those who seek deeper exploration of their selves. I combine methods from insight-oriented, relational, cognitive-behavioral and solution-oriented approaches.
Work experience includes university counseling centers, therapy with nursing home residents, two years at the University of Texas at Austin as a sexual health & rape prevention educator, and therapy training at Austin's Waterloo Counseling Center which specializes in services for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and HIV-affected individuals and couples.
