Gina Schuchman, MSW, LICSW, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Edina
I believe people are basically competent and come to therapy because they have run into problems and life transitions for which their usual coping skills are not working as they always have. I am actively involved as I believe that therapy is a working partnership in which we review all your clues and then find solutions that fit for your specific needs. I believe in the healing qualities of relationships. I work with people in recovery from childhood trauma, addictions and relationship problems who are struggling with anxiety, depression and other emotional stresses.
I have worked in a number of settings including programs treating incest families, private psychiatric clinic, public schools, OB-GYN clinic and private practice. I have learned many skills along the way. I try to tailor my approach for each client who comes in so that therapy meets their needs.
I have been in practice for 36 years and have lived my own life as I have learned to work with others. I have learned a lot from both. I listen intensely and try to form a partnership with clients to help bring them to their goals.
