Mara Swan, MA, LCPC, LCPAT, ACS, Counselor in Bel Air
Quality of life can be compromised by personal, educational, career, or relationship challenges and transitions. Emotional or cognitive symptoms that cause depression, anger, and anxiety can accompany these problems, often outweighing an individual's ability to cope and effectively attend to daily roles and responsibilities at any age. In session, I provide a safe, caring, and non-judgmental environment where challenges can be addressed to create positive and lasting change. I work with clients to identify future goals, develop effective coping skills, and pursue a meaningful without the complication of emotional distress or thought dysfunction. For many, the effects of therapy will last a lifetime.
Individuals are complex, and the underlying cause of problems is not always clear. I utilize diagnostic tests to understand the nature of a problem and the best way to address it. Assessments address emotional difficulties, cognitive problems related to brain functioning, achievement deficits in academic settings, and/or career interests.
My experience consists of hospital, group home, and private practice. I have utilized diagnostic evaluation and differential diagnostic methods for all of those years. I will customize the plan for you to reach your goals. Your adaptive coping strategies and strengths are highlighted. Therapy may add some you have not discovered yet.
