Eric Anders, PhD, PsyD, Licensed Psychoanalyst in Walnut Creek
My approach to clinical work is very focused on what is best for the person receiving care. I believe fit between that person and the therapist is crucial. My approach always focuses on empathy and creating lasting change. I am a faculty member of the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis. I am also a Training and Supervising Analyst at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis. As a psychoanalyst, I work in an in-depth way that tries to take seriously what is happening outside of awareness. I work with adults, college-age and up.
The people I work with range from those suffering from debilitating anxiety, depression, and trauma to those who come in simply for relationship issues or greater self understanding. I especially have experience working with people who have difficulty maintaining lasting and good love relationships, both heterosexual and homosexual.
I am the founder and Managing Editor of the journal, The Undecidable Unconscious (Nebraska). I have taught psychoanalysis at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis, the Newport Psychoanalytic Institute and Seattle's Center for Object Relations. I am a former Visiting Scholar at Stanford and the University of Washington.
