Scott Kellogg, PhD, Psychologist in New York
I believe that I am a good match for patients seeking a psychotherapy experience that is focused, active, and intense -- particularly those wrestling with addictions, trauma, and deeply painful feelings. As a Gestalt-trained Schema Therapist, I not only provide patients with a model for understanding their difficulties and a proposed plan of action, but also I place a great deal of emphasis on the use of imagery and psychodramatic techniques as I believe that these are extremely effective ways of helping people change and heal. In my addiction work, I integrate Schema Therapy and Harm Reduction Psychotherapy.
Schema therapy and Gestalt therapy are the major sources of inspiration for my work. While I am familiar with a range of cognitive-behavioral treatments for addiction, I primarily practice Harm Reduction Psychotherapy. Beyond that, I utilize ideas from Existential Psychotherapy and the Jungian idea of the Hero's Journey.
The Chairwork Psychotherapy Outreach Project is an effort to provide those who are facing financial difficulties with up to eight sessions of problem-focused, Chairwork-centered psychotherapy. After a consultation session and a joint decision to go forward, the patient can choose a fee that they feel comfortable paying.
