Tom C Anderson, PhD, Counselor in Oak Park
LifeSpan Counseling & Psychological Services offers services to children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. I believe that everyone has an innate capacity to recover and grow from emotional challenges. My therapeutic style is warm, genuine and relationship-based while also being goal and outcome-oriented. It is important to me that insights, skills and changes achieved in therapy lead to significant and purposeful changes in the lives of my clients. I have significant experience working with adults, adolescents and couples.
I work with clients looking for therapy to deal with the recent loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or for clients dealing with more significant emotional/psychological issues such as depression. All treatment is customized to meet the needs and abilities of each client.
I specialize in working with men's issues, anger, depression, health issues, sexuality, substance abuse, and mediation services. Additionally, I offer Psychological Testing. We also offer groups such as, substance abuse, anger-management, and divorce support groups. Other therapists are available to see family members and partners as needed.

Substance Use Group

We are pleased to introduce a 7 week Substance Use Group for adults (18+) who aren't yet sure if they have a substance use problem or addiction. This group is designed for individuals who are not yet actively trying to change their pattern of substance use but who are open to beginning to look closer at this aspect of their lives. The group will use education, self-exploration, homework, and motivational interviewing techniques to help individuals understand their relationship to alcohol and other substances.
