Kathy Higgins's Groups

Dialectical Behavior Skills Training

DBT Skills Training Groups help balance change and acceptance to live a more aware and joyful life. DBT Skills Training Groups are offered as 3 eight-week modules (for a total of 24 weeks). The three modules are: Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. Mindfulness, the fourth component of DBT, is taught and emphasized in every module and often in each group. Groups are part lecture and part discussion with homework material after each group meeting. Skills Training helps one to gain a fundamental understanding of non-judgmental mindful communication that helps improve quality of life.
