Sherri Williams, MSEd, LPC, NCC, BCC, Counselor in Pittsburgh
As a therapist in private practice, I offer individual psychotherapy, couples | relationship | marriage counseling, life coaching, & group therapy to help clients find compassion for themselves & others, confront issues of shame, & make more loving choices. Shame is universal & takes many forms, including addiction, codependency, judging, blaming, & perfectionism. One voice of shame is "There is something wrong with me." Another is "I'm not good enough" or "I don't matter." These messages are often found and experienced in relationships and families. Finding joy & self-acceptance is possible. Improve the quality of your life & relationships. Call or email today!
Specialized work includes addiction, spirituality, sexuality, relationships, fear, loss, & self-hate. A unique group therapy called "Loving the Martial Way: Ending the Fight" is available for individuals & couples to heal shame & self-hate by creating & anchoring new learnings that improve the quality of life & relationships. Visit for more info
My practice is comprised of both individuals and couples who are longing for healing and wholeness. My work regarding shame and self-hate is central to this process. Only through accepting ourselves as we are--or experiencing that in therapy--do we find the courage to risk change.

Sherri Williams's Groups

Powerhouse Women's Group

Process group for women who are "powerhouses" in their daily lives--fabulous, strong women who love to serve others but who have difficulty being served by others--difficulty in admitting their vulnerabilities and needs. All are in individual therapy/counseling with me and also struggle with food and/or body image. This group is a closed group--new members are accepted as openings arise and as the group process and composition provide.

Loving the Martial Way-Ending the Fight with Shame

This work involves gently & compassionately addressing the shame-based messages that we have learned, swallowed, accepted, & projected. In helping people to heal from these self-hating thoughts, release emotional pain, & make more loving choices, I have come to believe that a physical process can assist in this healing & learning. This inspiration comes in large part from my training with Josh Ryer of Ryer Martial Arts Academy. This group integrates body movement as metaphor for the healing principles for living a compassionate life of self-acceptance & loving relationships. The project integrates the 12 steps, shame & self-hate work, relationship dynamics, & MARTIAL arts.
