Anabel Perez-Gonzalez, LCSW, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in New York
As a bilingual/bicultural therapist (Spanish) I have been committed to providing therapeutic services to the Latino community and to New Yorkers of varying diversity. Whether you are an immigrant or a first generation American it is often difficult to find professionals with whom you can feel safe. Trauma comes in many different forms and I specialize in helping people develop assertiveness skills and improve their personal relationships. I also specialize in experiences specific to women (pregnancy/post partum), LGBT, substance use (harm reduction and/or abstinence-based), HIV+ individuals, family dysfunction, and identity issues including alternative identities such as otherkin.
I take several different approaches in therapy and work eclectically with clients according to their needs and preferences. I work to identify clients' own strengths to help them tackle their issues from a psychodynamic, social justice, and harm reduction perspective.
My background is in family therapy which helps me look at people as small parts of a bigger whole. I also have a more relational style in how I build repoire with clients and am not afraid of using humor.
